In fact it has landed, right on my birthday!
August started with a marathon (for me) road trip up to Far North Queensland in our motorhome. The ultimate destination was the Books In Paradise writers/readers event at the Pullman resort in Port Douglas. We spent a week getting up there, exploring parts of the state we'd never been to. The temperatures were not our usual winter ones—warm even for Brisbane. The best time to visit, I'd say. We saw cassowaries on road signs, and luckily no crocodiles in the wild.
The book fair was a success all round. Great location, and amazing organisation by Sam Woodgarth, author and businesswoman. Hopefully it will be back next year.
We took only three days to drive back, averaging around 4-500kms a day, to make it back for our daughter's wedding and son's birthday. This time of the year is a busy one with children and grandchildren's birthdays, Fathers Day and my birthday of course. Not that I'm counting any more. I have a couple of books to finish though, before I sign out.
Leather Lane, the prequel to the trilogy, should be finished by this time next year, or hopefully earlier. I'm having fun with the setting, being in the 1700s. A little out of my comfort zone, but as usual it's a learning experience. Hopefully it slides into Finding Miriama without too many issues.
In case you're interested, all 3 ebooks are now available as a set. https://books2read.com/u/47KpzE
Next weekend I have an author's slot at the Eumundi Writers Festival on the Sunshine Coast and am volunteering the rest of the time. It should be a good weekend.
Then I'm escaping to South Korea and Japan for a few weeks before heading back to New Zealand until Christmas.
I'm writing this at the Treehouse Cafe in Redcliffe which has been kind enough to stock my books. It's not an easy feat, persuading shops to stock my books on this side of the Tasman, but I'm getting there. Don't forget to request any of my books at your local library, especially in Oz😘
That's it for the month. See you soon. Arohanui.
