Pushing Up Daisies

On Sunday I drove to Hamilton to catch up with my sister’s twin (cool story, but not for me to write. Google ‘heteropaternal superfecundation’).

After that I visited the Hamilton West Cemetery to get an idea of where Joseph McLean Greenwood, the protagonist in my new novel, is buried. He’s there, but he didn’t give me a sign unfortunately. The headstone went, probably years ago. No one has been buried there since 1975.

However it wasn’t a wasted trip, as the cemetery itself is so interesting. It contrasts completely with Highgate in London which I wrote about on this page a while back.

While the graves date back to the 1800s, those without cement, which would normally fall into disrepair, have been planted with daisies (appropriate choice). So pretty, making the area happy, rather than creepy.

Having said that, I won’t hesitate to visit Highgate again!
