Off to the editor!

Updated: Oct 18, 2024

I'm horrified that it has been nearly 2 months since my last update. So much for my promise to post every 4 weeks. My only excuse is that I had a deadline for my editor, which I managed to meet - just. So, here I am, back to reality, and less stress.

What has happened since August 21st? I hear you ask. Well, perhaps dot points will be best.

  • I finished the story. Roughly the same size as Finding Miriama, give or take 10k words

  • I received an Honourable Mention in the 2024 Able Golden Book Awards in Melbourne

  • My audiobook has now been released on Audible, which I hoped would happen eventually

  • I moved back to NZ from Brisbane, where I shall be for the next 3 months

What is coming up?

  • A panel discussion with 2 other authors as part of the Escape Festival in Tauranga this Saturday 19th October.

  • A podcast with authors Lee Murray and Charlotte Lobb through Creative Bay of Plenty in anticipation of the panel

  • My Australian editor should be finished sometime next month, and, if I haven't made too many boo boos, it should be ready to put together by the ladies at DIY Publishing in Wellington

  • Release early 2025

The podcast is available on Spotify and Itunes as well as on the 'Words that Move Us' website.

I was happy to learn that I have 5 books in Auckland libraries now, and 2 in Hamilton. The Waimakariri Library in Christchurch requested one the other day, so that makes 6 libraries so far, around the country. Slowly but surely ... I may give the Australian market a go next year, once Of Greenstone and Violins is released.

For those who may be wondering which characters have carried over in the sequel, here is a sneak preview of the Whakapapa:

and a family photo in which you will find three of the characters. I wonder who will guess correctly?

This is a brief overview, but hopefully enough to keep y'all interested. November should be a lot more informative.

Meanwhile, happy reading if you have time to do that. I've listened to books by Kate Morton, JP Pomare, Lisa Jewell, Trent Dalton, Graham Norton and Paul Cleave since I last posted. If I had to read them, I would be lucky to finish one. Thank goodness for Audiobooks!
